PJ Storytime: Knights

This was one of those storytimes that just kept changing, right up until storytime began! It had been on my mind for awhile, I thought it fit well with the “Hero” SRP theme. I haven’t been a stickler about keeping my storytimes on theme, but it’s nice to reinforce what’s going on in the library. Originally I was going to do Knights and Princesses. Then Knights and Dragons. There were so many great dragon books I had to do a separate storytime with just dragons, but I found plenty that featured both. Then at the very last minute, I added in a slightly off-topic princess book and it was the perfect choice!

PJ Storytime: Crocodile vs. Alligator

This idea has been percolating in my brain, and the end result is quite different than I thought it would be. I’m surprised by how many crocodile books I really love. I will have to fit some of them into other themes. I decided to add a non-fiction book to this storytime, which is not something I’ve done very often. I chose a book that compared alligators and crocodiles, since kids tend to use them interchangeably (I’m guilty of this myself sometimes).

PJ Storytime: Books and Libraries

2014 was a great year for metafiction picture books! Of course, The Book with No Pictures fits in this category as well, but since I read it earlier this year, I wanted to use fresh material. I’m really please with how these books fit together, but I had been stumped trying to think of some songs and rhymes that tied into the theme. I asked the hive mind on the Storytime Underground facebook page, and got some really great inspiration.

PJ Storytime: Cars

I have so much fun with car theme storytime, mostly because I get to use these amazing steering wheels:Car wheel

Someone put the idea out the to go along with the story “In the Driver’s Seat” and if you have this book in you collection, treasure it because it is out of print. BUT these steering wheels are fun with lots of car themed books and songs.
